Anne Wynia Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 18, 2023.
On December 26, 2022, Anne Frances Wynia tragically passed away at age 47 at her home in Aumsville, Oregon. She was born February 27th, 1975, in San Francisco, California to Dorothy and William Hay. She was proud to be their daughter and even more so to be first-generation Irish and Scottish.

During this time, the family wants to focus on the life she lived and the legacy of love she leaves behind. Anyone who knew Anne spoke highly of her deep devotion to her faith and family, especially her children who were the light of her world.

Growing up, Anne was a tom-boy and often spent her time playing sports, holding onto the back of trucks while riding her skateboard, and getting into all sorts of trouble. At seventeen, she became determined to get caught up and graduate high school when she discovered she was pregnant.

While waitressing at twenty, she met her would-be husband as a cocky customer when he famously took his quarter back instead of tipping her. Despite that rocky first impression, the two had a whirlwind romance. On her twenty-first birthday, she gave birth to a girl. After her second child, she was told it was unlikely she would ever be able to have children again. She thanked God when, after seven years, she joyfully discovered she was pregnant twice more.

Anne was a proud, devoted Navy wife. She supported her husband on deployment and acted as both mom and dad to their children when he was serving around the globe. She helped plan activities and ran fundraisers for the Navy Family Ombudsman Program and readily packed up her life to move to wherever her husband was stationed. During these times, her endless strength was the glue that kept our family together.

After her husband retired from the military, she moved to Salem, Oregon, where she decided to rededicate herself to a promise she made to her father to complete her higher education. She attended Chemeketa Community College and graduated with her Associate of Applied Science for Human Services with a focus on addiction studies.

Anne will be remembered as a genuine, compassionate person who always wanted to be there for family and neighbors. Anne never did this out of obligation or felt like it was a chore, but because caring was simply who she was. It was her first instinct to offer you anything that she thought would make you happy, even if it was her brand new t-shirt you complimented too enthusiastically. She was always there to listen, even if she only heard every other word, and offered to do anything she could to help. Her fierce loyalty and kindness will always be an inspiration to those who loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Court, four children, two grandchildren, sister, nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her honor to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause dear to her heart.

Dear Court, and the entire Wynia/Hay family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Even though I haven't been a part of your lives in almost 30 years, you and your family remain close to my heart.
Court, I remember when you and Anne met when we were all WAY younger. I'm glad she found you. You made her happy. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Will and Taylor, you were too young to remember me... but I'll never forget you. Your mom was a great person, and my best friend for a number of years. I can't express how sorry I am for your mom's passing. She loved you more than anything.
Michelle, I am so sorry. Your sister was one-of-a-kind, and a great friend. She will be missed by every life she touched.

Court, and family. I'm at a loss of words brother, speechless, numb and shocked. You and Anne were always there for me in my darkest moments while we served together. I remember having dinners at her parents and her mom gave us the hardest time, but she was so loving as well. If you need anything I live just about and hour or so away. Love you brother and you and your family are in my thoughts.

Anne was a very cherished soul. When our son lost is mental illness battle to suicide. She would often text me late in the evening knowing I would be wide awake. She would tell me everything was going to be ok. She would pray with me and light a candle for our son Casey. When further battles insued she always checked on me and prayed with me. She is someone who will be dearly missed. I will continue to pray for the family she left behind. Until we meet again, I love you!
