Portland – Anne M. Yates, 86, passed away on March 10, 2023. Anne was born on January 14, 1937 in Portland to Leonard J. (Red) Bolling and Hazel Bolling of South Portland.
Anne attended Cathedral and Holy Cross Catholic Schools. She worked at Tasty Freeze (now Red’s), Prudential Insurance and Hannaford Bros.
Anne was always smiling, laughing at silly things and jokes. She loved her family with everything she had, especially her husband, Peter. They spent many days outdoors, hiking, camping, boating, etc. She loved crafting, gardening and feeding the wildlife. She had many pets throughout the years. She loved them and they gave her comfort. She enjoyed walking the dogs, speaking to anyone passing by. Her favorite memories were of cruising with Peter. She loved to travel and visit different places.
Anne’s final days were spent at Fallbrook Woods in Portland, and she learned to love it there. She loved the staff and other residents and most of all, the activities! We lovingly called her “an artist on the run”!
We love you, Mom!
Anne was predeceased by her husband, Peter; her parents and her brother David Bolling. She is survived by her brother Chris Bolling and his wife Alison; son Tom Boyd; daughters Mary Welch, Lisa Amabile and her husband Frank, Catherine Nekoie and husband Bahman; stepchildren Sherri Card, Jeff Yates and wife Julie and Susan Caiazzo and husband John; brother-in-law Steve Yates and wife Lorene; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Portland, followed by burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Family also wishes to extend an invitation for all to attend a reception from 1pm-4pm at the Elizabeth Hobbs Hospitality Center, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.

I love you and miss you more every day. You were always there for me when I needed you and I will miss you so very much. Thank you for being my mother. You put up with a lot years ago alone with 4 crazy small children and I don’t know how you found the strength but you did. You married Peter and our family grew from 4 to 7 children and from then on we enjoyed many activities and camping trips. We grew and all graduated, got married, had oyr own children, and some of them had children and it’s not over. God teaches us that one day we will be together in paradise and I look forward to seeing you again. For now, enjoy the time with Daddy Pete and everyone who was there waiting for you. I love you mumma!!❤

Oh Nana, What wonderful times I had with you throughout my time here on Earth. I will always cherish the times living with you and visiting you as well. I will always remember my special times with you. The one day I never forgotten was when we went and got lunch and you drove us to Bug Light and we parked and ate our food and Michael Jackson came on the radio and I said "Nana, is he still making music?" and you said "He passed away honey, you didn't know that?" We both laughed! I will love and miss you Nana, tell nana and grampy I miss them as well, I will see you on the other side someday, hold a seat for me. I love you xoxo
