I am so sorry to learn about Annemarie’s passing. She was a wonderful person and helped me when I first started my macrobiotic journey. Rest In Peace.

a pioneer in the natural foods movement, it seems like yesterday The Natural Gourment cookbook was published. couldn't wait to get home and cook the dishes.
By relaxing the Japanese macrobiotic standards, she made healthful eating accessible to the masses. Back in the 1960's, she, along with the recently deceased Shizuko Yammomoto, ran the first macrobiotic center in NY.
1992 I attended the chef's showcase at the school, after pigging out, approached her and told her I was starting diet #7 (a brown rice fast), which produced a hearty laugh.
First saw her lecture in Vernon NJ, a holistic resort, formerly the Playboy club.
She made her mark on the scene, long before the holistic lifestyle became ubiquitous.
Anne Marie Colbin, thank you for your contributions.

So sad to learn today of Annemarie's passing.
I studied full-time with Annemarie and then worked for her over a four-year period in the early 1990's.
Annemarie profoundly influenced my life for the better in so many ways. My years with her were a time of great personal growth for me, for which I always will be grateful. She truly was one of the most important people in my life.
Sincere condolences to Shana and Kaila, and may your memories of your mom comfort you tomorrow on Mother's Day.
