Annie Bell Kier Barnes

Mrs. Annie Bell (Kier) Barnes was born on Feb. 3, 1922 to the late Johnny and Bessie (Mansfield) Kier. She was the 12th child out of 13 children. Her parents and siblings have all preceded her in death. She was married to the late Booker T. Barnes Sr. in 1948. Sister Barnes worked as a domestic engineer and caretaker of children in the community. She also was known for her generosity as well as appreciated the kindness of her neighbors. She attended school in the Lowndes County School System. She was a member of Woodlawn Forrest Church of Christ formerly West Adair Street Church of Christ under the leadership of Bro. Leroy Butler, Jr. She loved everybody that she met and they loved her likewise. Sister Barnes loved the Lord and the Church. She was a peacemaker and had a personality of humbleness. Sister Annie Barnes was preceded in death by one son, Frankie Lee Barnes and is survived by three children, one daughter, Annie P. Carter (Frank) of Detroit, Mich.; two sons, Booker T. Barnes, Jr. (Dian) of Valdosta, and Carey B. Barnes (Elizabeth) of Atlanta; grandchildren, William Carter, Michiko Williams (Derrick), Yolanda Carter Malone (Marcus), Frank Carter Jr., Monica M. Barnes, Kenya R. Barnes, Sheree Barnes Brooks, Christopher A. Barnes (Kimberly), and Alexandria E. Fortson and Warren Carter; great-grandchildren, Willandrea Carter, Sherry Carter, Brandon Ingram, Jr., Remy Williams, Justin Chandler, Christopher A. Barnes, Jr., Karleigh Barnes, Korryn Barnes, and Kenna Barnes; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and the Woodlawn church family.Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at the Woodlawn Forrest Church of Christ and Bro. Leroy Butler will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. — Harrington Funeral Home
