Anson Call Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 9 to Oct. 11, 2023.
Anson Wesley Call, our beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, partner, and father passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 17th, 2023. He was born in Provo, Utah, on June 28th, 1977, the sixth child of Duane and Tamra Sheppard Call. He is preceded in death by his brother Shawn Miller Call and survived by his parents; brothers Duane Jr. (Molly), Jason (Myra), and Devon (Michelle); his sisters Anne and Beth Hulme (Mike); his partner and best friend Amanda Zulker; and his three beautiful boys, Roan Nelson Call who carries his father's magnetic charisma and charm, Sheppard Nelson Call who carries his father's daredevil spirit and agility, and Smith Nelson Call who carries his pure joy for questioning "why" and mischievous spark (Jodi Nelson, Mother).

Anson was wildly creative. He had an eye for beauty, capturing it in every picture he took. Those that worked with him benefitted from this daily, and all of us were often touched by what he had to share on social media. He also produced some of the prettiest songs, each of which give a glimpse into an emotional and sensitive side that any who knew him felt deeply. He was thoughtful about everything he created. And all of these skills were present from his earliest days to his last.

There are not enough words to capture Anson, but all who knew him were impacted by his kindness, wit, charm, and love. He had a smirk about him that was contagious. He had a warmth in his smile, voice, and eyes. He was generous with his personality, and made everyone he interacted with feel important. He was real. He was sincere. And the breadth of his life experiences, from adventures, losses, successes, and joys, provided him with an understanding and acceptance of people that was palpable. His presence will be greatly missed by so many.

This world will not be the same without you, Anson Call. Goodbye, you dear, sweet man!

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Anson's life on Saturday, October 14th, at the Oak Hills Stake Center: 925 North Temple Drive, Provo, Utah. A pre-service solar eclipse memorial will begin at 10:15 a.m. in the parking lot, followed by a celebration of life in the chapel at 11:30. The service may also be live-streamed by using this link: https://www.youtube.com/@oh4wardprovo322/streams

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, a fund will be set aside for Roan, Shep, and Smith. Donations can be made here: https://gofund.me/5923c413

Something I learned from my uncle Anson is family is important. My nieces and nephews will always be my everything and I won't ever leave their lives. He taught me that creativity is also important and is important to have fun. :)

My dad would love to take us out for dinner every weekend or so there´s no specific memory that is my favorite about those times but going there with him was one of my favorite things to do with him.

Anson was the love of my daughter, Amanda's life. I've never seen her happier than she has been with Anson, and I've been told by many that he's been happiest with her as well.
I felt like Anson was part of the family right away. He was so easy to love and his wit and genuine love was a blessing right from the start. He spoke so tenderly, honestly, and lovingly, and was so proud of his boys: Roan, Shep and Smith. As a mom, it meant a lot to me that Anson felt so deeply about his sons. I had looked forward to meeting them one day. My sincerest sympathies are with them today as they , with the help of their family, attempt to navigate this devastating loss.
I pray for each of us today as we try to make sense of what doesn't make sense. I can't get past it or understand it. I can only try to get through it. As overwhelming as this pain is, I know I am richer for having been blessed to know the miracle that was, and will always be, Anson Wesley Call. I will see you again in heaven. You've met my brother, Brian, by now. You share a June 28th birthday. You also shared the same twinkle in your eyes.
Godspeed, Anson. I will always remember you and try to love everyone as you did, freely and unconditionally.

My heart goes out to the Call family. Anson will be so missed by all. I met him when I was 18, while I was attending college. He always made me smile with his own, unique style. You considered your time with Anson a special gift because he was often hard to pin down. He was always on the move exploring or creating. Even when I was in London for study abroad, he took time out of his trip abroad to find me and meet me for lunch because he knew I was homesick for a familiar face. We lost touch over the years but I will never forget him. Anson was one of a kind and loved by all. My deepest condolences.
