Anthonius "Tony" Groot

Anthonius "Tony" Groot, age 91, passed away on June 14, 2024, in Twinsburg, Ohio. Born on February 5, 1933, in Surabaya, Indonesia, Tony was a loving husband, father, and friend celebrated for his fun-loving spirit, relentless work ethic, and an inspiring, selfless nature that profoundly touched everyone that knew him.

Tony proudly served in the Dutch States Army. After his military service, he immigrated to the U.S. with his bride, Dorothea, and worked tirelessly to create a family and a successful career as a business owner and a skilled mold maker.

Married for 65 years to his beloved wife, Dorothea, who preceded him in death, Tony found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid golfer and card player, loved to watch birds, and was always ready with a joke that never failed to make people laugh.

He is survived by his son, Gregory Groot (wife Sheryl); daughters, Jessica Agee-Bradshaw (husband Randy Bradshaw), Monique Groot (husband Christopher Stearns), and Desiree Barton (husband Mitchell Barton); grandchildren, Trevor Groot, Anthony Agee, Connor Groot, Aaron Bradshaw, Reid Barton, Riley Barton, Garin Stearns, Corinne Stearns, and Owen Stearns; and great-grandchildren, Silas Groot, Carson Groot, and Lorelai Bradshaw. Tony was also preceded in death by his daughter, Ingrid Groot.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 9, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the Arbor Glen Apartments Clubhouse, 2639 Arbor Glen Dr., Twinsburg, OH 44087.
