Anthony BASTONE Obituary
We are saddened to announce the passing of Anthony Bastone on Friday, February 26, 2016. Born October 27, 1948, the eldest of eight children, to Rosina (Fata) and Luigi Bastone, in Cosenza, Calabria, Italy. Anthony was predeceased by his father in 1998 and is survived by Maria, his loving wife of 40 years, and precious daughter, Michelle; his mother, Rosina; siblings Maria, Teresa, Gina, Lucy (Marco), Rita (John), Franco (Susan) and Gino; in-laws John and Emilia Pulice, Louie (Sylvia), Franco, Rita (Derrick), Dina (Terry), Lisa; 18 nieces and nephews; 4 grandnieces and loyal sidekick, Charlie. Anthony has left us with a void in our hearts and countless cherished memories. He will be lovingly remembered for his quick wit, sarcastic comments, a warped sense of humour, often inappropriate jokes and that mischievous grin. He loved classic cars and shared his passion for music with anyone who would listen. Most of all, Anthony will be remembered for his easy going nature, the love he had for his family and his quirky way of showing it. Rest in peace, Tony, you will be sorely missed. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at St. Augustine's Church, 2028 W 7th Ave, Vancouver. Our deepest condolences to Maria, Michelle and the Bastone Family. We treasure the many laughs, stories and songs we got to share with Tony along with the occasional top-down spin in his Mustang. As tough as he tried to be, we found Tony to be very soft hearted and generous. Case in point: his gift of an NFL jersey with a particular surname on the back, which Tony said was not his size.

I am a very close friend of Danny MacDonald; who was a very close friend of your son. I was asked many times if I knew Tony; I can only say I knew Tony through the long friendship I have had with him. My sister Dawna Godby however knew several for your daughters I am awaiting a telephone call from her; 1-250-832-3134. I must add that although I never knew Anthony; I cried several times yesterday. Truly though yesterday was the best time I have ever had at the'Cove' I enjoyed many of the peoples names mentioned in the Obituary; he,Tony is was certainly with us all yesterday. I lost my mother just over one year ago and I feel your loss as I feel for the loss of my mother. I took several pictures of the proceeding and I would like for you to have them. I just learned of Tony's death and was talking to some of the dunbar and tenth guys who knew him and every one said what a good guy he was. My point is, that practically all the guys I knew liked him, and that's just one neighbourhood. Imagine how many other people there are in this circle to remember him. I was also glad to see what a big, affectionate family he had. That kind of thing really helps make a guy's life a success. RIP Tony.

My deepest condolences to Tony's family and friends. I remember Tony from Kits High and spent a lot of time hanging out with him when we were teenagers. I have often thought of Tony over the years with fond memories of our carefree days. He always used to "tease" me about being short and of course I would rebut with "and you're tall?"
