Anthony Benedetti Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 18, 2024.
Anthony "Tony" Benedetti, born on July 19, 1934, in Roslindale, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, in Fort Myers, Florida, at the age of 90.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Josephine A. Benedetti; his son Anthony J. Benedetti and his partner Georgia Critsley of Arlington, MA; and his son Paul J. Benedetti of Fort Myers, FL. He also leaves behind his brothers John and Louie, as well as loving in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Chiara and Giovanni Benedetti; his brothers Rocco and Albert; and his sisters Angie, Mary, Ann, Viola, and Nancy.

A proud veteran of the Army and National Guard, Tony dedicated much of his professional life to Roche Bros Supermarket before concluding his career at the Boston Water and Sewer Commission. Upon retiring 22 years ago, he and Josephine relocated to Florida, where they embraced the sunshine and a more relaxed pace of life.

Tony found immense joy in dining out and playing golf during his retirement years. Known for his natural ability to bring people together, he organized a bowling league at Centre Street Bowling, coordinated bus trips to Rhode Island for golf and gambling outings, and served as a social director in the Jamaica Bay community in Florida. His cherished dog Tinka was a constant source of companionship and affection.

One of the highlights of Tony's life was traveling to Ceprano, Italy, to visit the birthplace of his parents and connect with extended family. His resilience was evident throughout his life, particularly after heart surgery in his 40s, which he overcame to enjoy many fulfilling years.

Tony will be remembered for his warm smile, devotion to family, and zest for life. A memorial service will be held later this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Best Friends Animal Society at https://bestfriends.org.
