Anthony Consolazio Obituary

Anthony Consolazio

Loving husband, father, grandfather,

great-grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away on March 19, 2025, in Long Island, New York, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in 1925 to Michelina and Antonio Consolazio in Brooklyn, New York. Anthony was the 10th of 12 children.

Anthony went on to serve his country during the Second World War. He was a very proud Marine who served in the Pacific Theater.

After the war, Anthony married the love of his life, Lucy, in 1950. They had three children: Margaret, Theresa, and Anthony. Anthony worked as an office manager for the New York Transit Authority. He took pride in his work and worked hard to support his family.

Known locally around his neighborhood, Middle Village, as "The Commander," Anthony was a familiar face everywhere he went. On beautiful days, Anthony could be found sunbathing on his favorite bench in Juniper Valley Park. His favorite activities included playing pinochle with his friends, going to the casino with his son, watching the Mets on TV with a Manhattan Special in hand, and getting dinner with his children and grandchildren, who referred to him as "Poppy." As the Patriarch of his family, Anthony knew the importance of breaking bread with his loved ones. He loved all kinds of cuisine, including Italian, Asian, and German, just as long as he could have it with his "Sprite No Ice" or a Peroni on a special occasion. Anthony was a truly good man who treated every person he met with sincerity and kindness. He was so cherished, and the New York Mets and New York Islanders honored him as a Veteran of the Game. We are all so thankful for him, he will be greatly missed. The world was truly a better place with him in it.

Sempre Fidelis
