Anthony Cuneo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 9, 2022.
Anthony Joseph Cuneo was born October 30, 1988, in Jacksonville, Fl to father Danny "Coon" and mother, Mary Cuneo. Followed by the birth of his little sister, Erin Cuneo. Shortly after, the family moved to Larose, La. Tony's time spent deep in the swamps of the bayou were some of his fondest memories. Learning how to fish, find crawfish in the ditches and playing baseball with everyone in the neighborhood. He excelled at baseball. Like a fish in water, it just came natural to him.

In 2000 the family moved to Pensacola, FL. He attended Washington Hish School where he was able to truly showcase his talents in his favorite sport, baseball. Being a 6'4 left-handed pitcher turned a few heads, to say the least. He enjoyed those years of his life and thrived in the presence of his friends and family. Tony went on to attend Pensacola Junior College for two years. Earning awards such as Dean's list and President's list.

After college he took on the noble duty of serving our country. He joined the Navy where another love formed. Traveling became a source of joy in times of uncertainty in his new career. He served for 4 years until he was honorably discharged. He then found himself once more on base becoming a Contractor specializing as an explosive ordinance device technician.

At his time of death, he was successfully managing a Chevron.

Tony was loved by so many. His heart was bigger than his stature. His time spent with us was full of laughter, smiles and love. He was sensitive and caring. Although his stern demeanor would have you thinking otherwise. The impression he left on those who knew him, will forever be one carried. Tony knew no stranger. He accepted all and above all else, understood the troubles of life and embraced those who had seen harder times. To many, he was an ear to listen, a hand to hold and a shoulder to rest. Though he may no longer be with us physically, we will feel him every day in the warmth of the sun, the sound of the rain and the wind brushing our cheek. He will never know a day of pain as he is in the afterlife with his favorite person, his dad. Joy will come to mind when his name runs through our thoughts. Because that's what he brought to our lives. Joy.

Anthony is preceded in death by father Dan Cuneo, grandparents Stella and John Cuneo, Erin and Hugh Leitch, aunts, Erin Loretto Leitch, Joan Leitch Gillson, Chris Leitch Newbill, uncles, Philip Cuneo, Mike Cuneo, Ernie Theriot, J.C. Faulk.

He is survived by mother Mary Cuneo, sister, Erin Cuneo. Jeremy and Cailee Gentry, Al and Nicole Gentry. Godfather Perry Theriot, Karen Theriot. Cousins Mike Gillson, Aric Gillson, uncle Gary Gillson. Susan Faulk, Margo Giardina, Glo Chiasson. Hugh and Kristin Fast, John and Becky Fast. Girlfriend Angie Silver, Nanette Johnston, Joan Damm, Danny and Margi Dufrene, Leno and Holly Guidry, Frank and Linda Hogue. And his friends in the U.K.

A celebration of life will be held January 15, 2023 at the entrance of Ft. Pickens at 2 P.M.
