Words cannot begin to express my gratitude for the warm thoughts, the beautiful flowers, the outpouring of support, and the humorous stories that have celebrated the life of Butch Huff. I had the honor of sharing less than a fourth of his shortened life but the gift of a lifetime of memories. Butch challenged me to believe in myself, accomplish goals I had not thought possible, confront difficult situations, and to be “alive.” His passion for goodness and dedication to his children and family were ever inspiring. I feel robbed of the opportunity to share our dreams under construction and unlived years for loving and being loved. The many tender moments: a flower left on the kitchen counter, a hot cup of coffee to wake me up, fried egg sandwiches to go on hurried mornings, and snuggling on the sofa, to name a few, tug at my heart. Comfort comes from connection to family and friends who have provided loving arms, encouragement, and amazing support. I will miss you “mountain man” and can only find peace in knowing that you are no longer suffering. As only you could say it Butch, “until we meet again…”

It was an amazing turnout to pay tribute to Butch. Thanks to everyone who came to support our kids during this difficult time, it meant a lot to them. Continue to keep them in your prayers. It was good to see all the friends from our past and hear the funny stories. Not having him to talk to about our kids and problem solve will be hard. So glad he was able to see what they have accomplished so far and know he will be looking down on them as they continue to strive to become even better. He will be smiling on all of us. So grateful he was able to know Noah and see what a wonderful little guy he is. We will tell him stories about his Pop Pop and how his mom and uncle Adam grew up. I have had a roller coaster ride with all of this.....still does seem real yet. I cherish his family always as my extended family and will keep them in my heart and prayers always.

The service for Butch spoke volumes about the amazing life he led and the wonderful friends and family he was surrounded by. The room was literally overflowing with love and support for Butch. I loved hearing all the wonderful stories and "Butchisms" and it made me wish I had known him even better. Butch was a true character. A visit with Butch always made me feel welcomed and I always left feeling more energized. I loved his adventurous spirit and I respected his passion for what he believed in. I feel so blessed and fortunate to have gotten to know Butch and I am grateful to him for bringing so much love and happiness to my mom and in turn my family. Butch was always generous with his time and there to lend a helping hand to my family. He helped my husband in building his restaurant and even when Butch wasn't feeling well this past Spring he wanted to try to help us out when we decided to put an addition on our home a few months before our son Owen was born. I loved watching Butch with Owen and am so sorry that Owen won't get to know Butch as he grows up.
I am so glad I have gotten to know Adam, Amanda and Noah and want them to know I am here to support them and hope we all stay connected.
Thank you so much Butch for all the happy memories and all the love and joy you gave my mom and my family. We all loved you so much and you will be so missed.

Butch was as authentic as they come. He truly enjoyed life and I will always remember his passion for the outdoors and the respect he had for it. I am most grateful for the happiness he gave my mother, Katie, and the rest of our family. The last 10 yrs of holidays and family get togethers will forever be brighter for having shared them with Butch.

I am so sorry to hear about Butch. I have not seen him in years, but he wasn't an individual who was easily forgotten. Although there is 8 years differnce in age, we had many common friends while growing up in Berea Baptist Church. My memories of Butch are fond and sprinkled with laughter. I know he will surely be missed by many and especially his family. May his soul rest in peace.

To Butch's family & friends ... So sorry to hear of your loss & at such a young age. It has been 30+ years since I last ran into Butch. Although it had been years since we had seen each other then, our conversation was pleasant as we laughed & chatted about childhood friends & caught up on each others life events. Butch was always such a nice guy. May he rest peacefully in God's arms & his smile live on in your hearts forever.
