Anthony J. Kerin

Anthony J. Kerin, 78, of Derry Township, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, while in Montana. He was born Nov. 19, 1938, in Derry Township, the son of the late George and Nellie (Willforth) Kerin. Prior to retirement, Anthony worked at ICI and Angles Inc. He was a military veteran of the United States Army National Guard, having 34 years of service. Anthony was a life time member of the NRA and PRPA and a member of Pennsylvania and Westmoreland Archeological Societies and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, woodworking and gardening. In addition to his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Beeman) Kerin, in 1997; one brother, George Kerin; and one sister, Mary Strong. Anthony is survived by his three sons, David Kerin and wife, Bianca, of Indiana, Mark Kerin and wife, Karen, of Hillside, and Roger Kerin and wife, Cheryl, of Derry; one daughter, Toni Dimatteo and husband, Norman, of Gray Station; one sister, Rose Spatola, of Bridgeton, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Kevin, Andrew and wife, Ashley, Danielle and husband, Colton, Derek, Kyle, David and John; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jordon and Connor; and nieces, nephews and friends.
Family will receive friends for Anthony's life celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, in the MATTHEW X. MERLIN FUNERAL HOME INC., 529 N. Chestnut St., Derry, PA 724-694-8331. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, in the funeral home with Pastor James Henigin officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Blairsville Military Service Group will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
