Anthony Napoli, 55, of 131 Cypress Drive, died Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He leaves behind his loving and beloved wife of 27 years, Vickie Crisp Napoli. He will also be greatly missed by his beloved dog, Rhett. Born April 14, 1955 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the eldest son of Vincent and Mary Napoli of Spartanburg. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a self-employed craftsman and most recently worked as Director of Purchasing at Greenville Hospital System and also at Shriner’s Hospital. Additional survivors include two brothers, John Napoli and wife Terri of Spartanburg, and Scott Napoli and wife Crissy of Moore; brothers-in-law, Paul Crisp and wife Tina, and Donald Crisp and wife Anita; and several nieces and nephews. Anthony was a kind and loving man who enjoyed life. Whatever he did, he did it with total enthusiasm. Anthony was an active member of several organizations. He was an original member of the Foothills Miata Club; coordinator of the first local chapter of “I Can Cope (a cancer support group); he founded and led, “People Who Dare to Care another cancer support group for several years. Anthony was also a member of the Italian-American Club, and was an avid bowler for several years. Even though Anthony had office jobs, he was always building something for the house. Anthony's membership in Carolina Mountain Woodturners and the American Association of Woodturners helped him develop his woodturning skills. He also credited his mentors John Lamacraft and Mike George with helping hone his skills in the craft. Anthony's membership in Professional Network Connections afforded him opportunities to work with other artisans and develop several friendships there. At the age of 40, he bought a red Mazda Miata, and truly enjoyed driving and working on his car. Anthony's professional memberships were extensive. He served in all board capacities for the Upper South Carolina Chapter Institute for Supply Management, Carolinas - Virginia, as well as several terms as president. He also served in several board capacities for ISM-Carolinas-Virginia, and recently received several awards for his service and contributions. Anthony's guiding principal in his business dealings was always to follow ethical principals in everything he did. He also taught classes at Spartanburg Community College, Greenville Tech, and UNC-Charlotte, and each of his courses placed great emphasis on ethical behaviors.
