Anthony Riel Obituary

Anthony M. Riel, 23, of Gage Road died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at home.

Born in Gardner on September 23, 1997, he was the son of Michael and Nicole (Guerrin) Riel and grew up in the Athol-Orange area, and graduated from Franklin County Technical School in 2015 with a degree in collision repair. While in high school Anthony enjoyed playing football. Since then, Anthony had worked various jobs including NYPRO in Clinton, SWM in Greenfield and Manny's Appliances.

Anthony had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed making people laugh. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially in Bearsden. Anthony also enjoyed going to the beach, going out to eat, kayaking, lifting weights and cooking for his friends and family. Anthony also loved listening to music.

A loving and devoted father, Anthony spent countless hours with his son playing basketball, watching movies and teaching him to ride his bike.

He was a kind and caring son, brother, father, grandson and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Anthony is survived by his parents, Nicole Riel and Michael Riel of Orange; a son, Julian Riel of Athol; sisters, Jiovanna Rahaim of Orange and Micaela Riel of Athol; maternal grandmother, Ada Delaney of Athol; paternal grandmother, Lucille Dionne of Belchertown; aunts and uncles, Theresa Guzik, Stan Guzik, Bob Greene, Patty Greene, Debbie Riel, Marquita Henchey, Lisa Hurley, Robert Hurley, Andrea Reed, Rick Delaney, Beth Delaney, William Guerrin, Carrie Guerrin and Leon Buckman. Anthony is also survived by many cousins.

Anthony is predeceased by his grandfathers, William E. Guerrin and Norman Riel.

There are no calling hours.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time.

In lieu of flowers, an account will be set up in memory of Anthony for the future education plans of his son Julian Riel
