Anthony Samuel Russo

Anthony Samuel Russo, age 82, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Mary Ann Russo, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Houston, TX the son of the late Samuel Anthony Russo and Josephine Giammalva Russo, he had been a Fairfield County resident for many years. Mr. Russo retired as President of the Rhone-Poulenc Basic Chemicals Company, previously a division of Stauffer Chemical Company where he had worked for 37 years. Following his retirement he served four years as President and CEO of the Coulton Chemical Company in Toledo, OH. He was a devoted and active parishioner of St. Pius X Church in Fairfield where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Mr. Russo was a long-time member of the Patterson Club where he developed many friendships on the golf course. He delighted in time spent with his family and friends. Survivors in addition to his loving wife, Mary Ann include two beloved sons, James O'Bryan and his wife Lisa of Newtown and Jonathan Russo and his wife Tomoko of New York City; two cherished grandchildren, Jackson and Alexandra; a brother, Dr. Charles E. Russo and his wife Sophie of Houston, TX; a niece, two nephews, and many close cousins residing in the Houston, TX area. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Dr., Fairfield with the Rev. Msgr. Edward Scull officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
