Fr. Anthony Serio

Anthony Serio, age 88, of BRONX, New York passed away on Thursday July 26, 2018. Anthony was born May 2, 1930.

A visitation for Anthony will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral mass st. clare of assisi will occur Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM.

Father Anthony Serio was born May 2, 1930 in East Harlem, New York. He was one of fourteen children. He attended James Monroe High school in the Bronx. After graduating, he entered the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his military career, he worked at various jobs for about ten years and also attended St. Jerome's college in Canada where he studied Theology. It was after this period he decided to follow his vocation to become a priest. He completed his studies in Rome at Brazilian college, North American college, and Gregorian college. He was ordained a priest in St. Peters Basilica in Rome on December 21, 1967.
He served in three parishes. St. Mary Magdalene, Our Lady Star of the Sea which were both in New Orleans Louisiana. He was Pastor of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Westwego Louisiana until 2007 when he retired. He is survived by his three sisters Anna Serio, Flora Amato, from the Bronx and Marie Brescia from Florida. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
