Anthony T. Bouscaren

Anthony T. Bouscaren was my politics professor at the Charles Edison Memorial Youth Fund Institute of Comparative Political & Economic Systems. One of the things that struck me about him is his rather unique perspective on politics, his voicing the opinion that we in the U.S. are too quick to apply formulaic answers to questions that do not always apply, offering the example of classifying "Fascists" as "right-wing" and Communists/Socialists as "left", largely because when they first began to win elections in Europe, the Fascists were seated to the right of the "Conservatives" because their "rhetoric" closely resembled that of Conservatives, while the Communists/Socialist were seated to the left of the Liberals for essentially the same reason, when given their policies when they actually began govern, they should have been seated with each other AND IN A BALCONY! Such largely explains, in my opinion, the break-down of civility in our political debates.
