Beautifully said, Bob. I did not know that Marty had an interest in baseball and that he supported Tony by attending the games. Thanks for the memory

Tony, being my older brother, taught me a lot of things when we were growing up... He was a great teacher and motivator... Brother Tony, coached me and taught me the game he loved the most... baseball. His love for baseball came from our father, Matthew, who never missed a baseball game Tony played in. Matthew also listened to the Dodgers on a portable radio as he watched Tony play... Mathew was the ultimate "Multi Tasker" when it came to being a baseball fan. I know Tony is looking down upon us and urging us to be our better selves... and to dream lofty dreams...

I just happened to find this note that your dad had passed. He was my tennis coach at Mill Lane when I was in the 9th grade in 1979. I am almost 49 and I never forgot him. I had more fun on that team with your dad as the coach as I ever had in school. He was amazing. Ben Buchwald

Dad....just wanted to let you know that your beloved Joe Pa has gone up to join you. I remember that you loved and admired him so much. You two had so much in common; Brooklyn, Italian, college educated, sports enthusiasts. When I look at Joe I see you sometimes. You two were created from the same mold. Two GREAT men... Love you and miss you. Your loving daughter, Carrie

To all of the family
I probably know your dad as long as anyone. I was his student at F'dale. I worked for him at the pool as a lifeguard at the summer recreation program. When he started Driftwood Day Camp, he hired me as a counselor.
I became a health & PE teacher on L.I. and continued to run into him over the years at all of the conferences. We always saw each other and enjoyed a friendship.
I am retired, live in Bonita Springs FL, and recently got together with some of the "old gang' from F'dale. I asked everyone where Tony was and no one knew he was down here. Imagine my surprise when I found out he was practically my neighbor!! I am so sorry that we didn't get to see each other again in FL.
He was a wonderful person and the one I always remember as a kid.
Love to all of you.

To Tim Tonachio and family,
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how much your father inspired me as a parks director and a person. Back in 1989 he took a chance on a then nineteen year old and gave me the confidence and lessons that I use to this day. Little did I know that I would be filling his position many years later. I am not sure I would be in the position if it was not for him.
He was a boss, mentor, and leader who affected many others who worked alongside him. I have such great memories of him and think of him often. Now I am surrounded by his ideas, his deeds, and his legacy. It was an honor to know him and now it is a privilege to follow in his footsteps.
Sincerely,
Rick Ross

To Tim and family...I am so very sorry to hear about your dad--he was a great man. I have so many fond and fun memories of him. When I think of him and our time in Nigeria, it always brings a smile to my face.
He was a man of true vision.

I forgot about Cortland. I always thought it was a mystery wonderland when Tony talked about it. I did not apply to Cortland, but a near by college, St. Leo. Did go there but dated someone from there. Miss you Tony. Rosemary Sabino

Hi Dad! Visited Cortland yesterday...drove by Brockway Hall where you worked, saw the hospital where I was born, and found the street you and Ma lived on. Thought of you a lot and was imagining the things you would have been saying. The college has really grown, you would love the athletic facilities! Well, miss you and love you...remember don't be talking religion or politics up there! haha Love you, Carrieoca
