Anthony Charles "Pooh Bear" Vanderpool passed peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2016. He was born and raised in the 9th ward in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1976. He is survived by his mother Edna V. Williams. One daughter Latrenda A. Singleton. Two sisters Tammy L. Vanderpool and Andrea Collins, two brothers, Quinton Collins and Derick Collins. He leaves behind his devoted life partner, Darlene Russell. He was preceded in death by his father George Collins. Friends and relatives, pastors, officers and members of Evergreen Baptist Church and Franklin Avenue B.C., priest and parishioners of St. James Mayor C.C. are invited to attend the Homegoing on October 1, 2016 at Evergreen Baptist Church, 2243 Clouet Street, New Orleans, LA 70117 beginning 10am. Rev. Terrance Ransom, pastor officiating. Church visitation 9am until service time. Interment Resthaven Memorial Park. Professional Services Entrusted to: LITTLEJOHN FUNERAL HOME, 2163 Aubry Street. Anthony was a great, helpful and kind neighbor. He and Darleen moved in next door shortly after Katrina and they were all you could have hoped in a close neighbor. I pray to God to comfort his family in their time of grief.
