Anthony "Tony" Vara Jr, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 2, 2023. He was 73 years old. Tony was born the youngest of four siblings on August 1st, 1950 in North Collins, New York to parents Anthony Sr. and Angeline Vara. He was a member of the United States Army and met his loving wife Eileen nee Hinschberger on the military base. They married on June 30th, 1971 prior to his deployment to Vietnam. He loved playing cards, cribbage, reading, and watching the Syfy network. He was a lifelong New York sports fans, especially the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills. He was well known for his wit and loved visiting with friends and family. He will be missed dearly. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother-in-law David, and sisters-in-law Connie and Penny. He is survived by his dear wife of 52 years Eileen; sons Thomas (Karin) and Gregory; grandchildren Alexandra, Evelyn, Vincent, Noah, Dylan, and Nichole; siblings Russell, Mae, and John (Andrea); brothers-in-law John (Elizabeth) and Paul; sisters-in-law Amy and Laurie. Along with many other beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. An intimate celebration of life will be held in the Fall after a service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, more details to follow.
