Anthony Waugh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 9, 2024.
Anthony Wayne Waugh, 70, passed away on September 6, 2024, in Sandusky, Ohio, of cancer. Born on February 5th, 1954, in Port Clinton, Ohio, Wayne lived a vibrant life marked by his passions and enduring spirit.

Wayne graduated from South Central High School in Greenwich, Ohio, and went on to have a diverse career. He worked at Ford Motor in Sandusky, Ohio, before venturing into entrepreneurship with Wayne's Boat Repair. He also worked at Lew Byington Construction, contributing significantly to each field with his dedication and hard work.

A man of many interests, Wayne was an avid fisherman and hunter, passions that were only paralleled by his love for restoring wooden boats and his cherished 1965 Mustang. He was also a talented artist who enjoyed painting and a love for gardening; evident in his well-tended vegetable garden.

Wayne's personal life was enriched by his deep connections with family and friends. He is survived by his brothers, Ronnie (Donna) of Westchester, Allen (Connie) of Willard, Gwynn Waugh of Wellington, Ohio, and his sister, Pat (Dave) Poth, of Chillicothe, Ohio. His legacy continues through his daughters, Amanda Nebergall and Crystal Waugh; his life partner, Cathy Haley; and his estranged wife, Karla Bartlett-Waugh. He was a proud grandfather to Micala, Macynzie, Madison, and Mercedes, and a great-grandfather to Ian, Ella, and Paislee and a special connection to his Aunt Evelyn King, Uncle Chuck Beaver, and Uncle John Waugh.

Predeceased by his grandparents Richard and Louise Miller Beaver and John and Goldie Swain Waugh, his parents Clifford Roland and Letha Louise Beaver Waugh, his brother Alfred Mansfield, his sister Cathy Jane, and his twin brothers Timothy and Jeffery Waugh, Wayne leaves behind a legacy of joy and generosity.

A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at Toft Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 2001 Columbus Ave, Sandusky, Ohio 44870, on September 21, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10 AM with services following at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made toward a headstone for Wayne, with any additional funds supporting the Lake Erie Foundation in his name. Contributions can be sent to Pat Poth for Wayne Waugh at 3497 Cattail Rd., Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.

Wayne's life was a testament to his loving nature and his ability to bring joy and laughter to any gathering. His impact on his community and his dedication to preserving natural habitats will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Wayne was an amazing guy. Always had a smile on his face and would put a smile on yours. I will never forget him and all of the things he taught me. I´ll forever miss the farm days and camping with him!

My first memory of my brother is when we were little, and it was Christmas. we were all so excited to get up and see what Santa brought us. I remember a marble game of some kind and all kinds of other gifts around. but that game was the one that Wayne wanted. I remember us riding horses and playing baseball with our parents. I remember going fishing, then later getting stuck on a Rock pile with his 1964 mustang. Great double date night. So many memories!!
