Antone Rose Obituary

Antone David Rose Sr. passed away at the age of 68 on Sunday December 19, 2021.  He lived a full life and will tell you he did it his way. Antone, will be remembered for the love, kindness and generosity he showed everyone he met.  Many people who knew him referred to him as “Tony”, but by many he was called Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Marine and Friend.  Life began for Tony in Bridgeport, Connecticut on February 27, 1953 where Hazel, his mother, and Antone, his father, welcomed him into the world.

As a man, Tony will be remembered for his upbeat, positive mental attitude.  He was a strong, proud, resilient, and ultimately good man.  He was always there for those that needed help in one form or another whether it required kind words or deed.  He lived up to the Marine’s motto of “No better friend.”

As a father, Dad will be remembered for the timeless wisdom he passed down over countless conversations.  As a father, he made it a point to attend baseball games, karate practices, cookouts and other social gatherings in other to support his son.

To his grandchildren, he will be always be Grandpa Rose.  He never forgot to send a card or gift during a special occasion and always told his grandchildren how much he loved them and how proud he was of them.

Tony, is preceded in death by parents, Antone Rose, Hazel Delaney, brothers William and James; and sisters Jacqueline, and Lynda.

Tony is survived by his son Antone D. Rose Jr., his wife Angine, his three grandchildren Julius, Leila and Sofia Rose, as well by his brother Alfred and other beloved friends and relatives.

The family would also like to add a special thanks to the West Haven Veterans Support Group and to the staff of Silver Springs Care Center for all the help and services provided.

I came across Tony's obit when I researched sites for old classmates as I planned a reunion. Tony and I were classmates at both Blessed Sacrament and Bullard-Haven. We had our differences, but I always remember Tony as positive and with a wise remark that lit up the scene. I am sorry I couldn't connect with him when we had a Blessed Sacrament reunion a few years ago. He would have added much to our celebration, and I know he would have loved to see his old classmate, who remembered him. I met with our 8th-grade teacher at BSS, Sister Ann Clair, a showed her a class picture. She remembered Tony immediately. I smiled when she did. --- It has been 50 years and she still remembered Tony!

Tony sorry for the loss of your dad. He will be greatly missed. We all had wonderful fun times with him even the not so pleasant times can be laughed at. He always welcomed me in and helped fix my car. He was a great brother in law to me and great dad to you. Treasure all your times together and the memories you made along the way with him. Your dad was very proud of you especially of all your accomplishments. Rest in peace Tony rock the heavens with the oldies and try not to scare the angels when you tell a funny joke and laugh and slam your fist on the table lol.

Tony jr & family, what a good man big Tony was. I remember him fondly & smile when I think of him & all the shenanigans your mother & I had back in the day on Garibaldi! He was the calm, fair, voice of reason always. Listened & gave good advice. I’m sorry for your loss. Hugs & love to you & your family
