Eugene Maguire Obituary
Born September 24, 1923 in Brooklyn New York to the late Edward J. and Cecilia Gannon Maguire, he was a graduate of The University of Notre Dame receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce. Mr. Maguire was a WWII veteran of the US Navy, receiving the Asiatic Pacific Medal, American Theater Medal and Victory Medal. He served as president of Robinson Bros. Chemicals, Inc., an industrial chemical distributor in Brooklyn, NY, and upon retirement moved to St. Simons Island in 1987. He was a former member of Sea Island Club, a former member of Larchmont Shore Club in New York, was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, a former member of Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in New York City, and a former captain of Larchmont Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Maguire was a member of St. William Catholic Church on St. Simons Island. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Maguire, a daughter in law, Margaret Maguire, a brother, Edward Maguire and a sister, Mary Teresa Baker.
Survivors include a daughter, Patti Shaffer of St. Simons Island, a son, Gene Maguire, Jr., of Larchmont, NY, four granddaughters, Trish Shaffer, Meggie Maguire, Katie Maguire and Betsy Maguire, a sister, Cecilia Coleman of Bridgeport, CT, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 4 PM until 7 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of The Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525 or in memory of Julie & Gene Maguire, Swim Across America PO Box 17, Larchmont, NY 10538.

Dad, I love you so much. You were the best dad that i could have ever wanted. you meant the world to me and i know that you and mom are in heaven looking down on me, please tell mom i love and miss her so much and how much she meant the world to me, because you and mom were amazing! Patti and Gene,
Hang on to those GREAT memories. Both your mom and dad were really great people and will always be missed. Hope they are up there with my mom & dad (Warren & Lola Reynolds) having a good ole martini!! You are in my prayers.

Patti and Gene,
You both are in Jackie and my thoughts and prayers. I have many fond memories of both your parents as I grew up in Larchmont. The house parties our parents had, the BBQ's, going to the Memorial Day Parade and at the Larchmont Shore Club. Every time I cook a london broil on the grill I think of your dad. As I slice the steak I remember his words, " cut it on the bias", and I always do.

There are so many memories of family..."Hon" was called buy Aunt Julie.. no matter how many she had to visit with since she has left, she was lonely and needed her best friend.

Dad, I miss you like crazy, i wish that you were still here with us. It's hard to beleive that you are now in heaven with mom and your parents. I wish i could say i love you to you again, and have you say it back to me. I love you so much dad, i hope that you liked my speech that i said. It was all from the heart. I love you!!
