To the Visco and Shovlin Families,

I just found out about April's passing and wanted to entend my sympathy and condolence on behalf of me and my brothers Tony and Joe. I knew April during the high school years. I knew her mainly on a social level seeing her at parties. She was always so friendly and kind with a warm smile. I remember the fundraiser that the community had on her behalf back then-she was so humble and took it in stride that so many people came out to support her and make a fuss. In reading the guest book entries I can see she was well loved and will be fondly remembered and never forgotten. Take care-our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Michael,

You and April have been in my thoughts since I heard the sad news. I think of the time we all spent back in Indiana, PA and how fun and how easy it was to be around you both. I wish that life was fair but it isn't sometimes. April was just the best - full of grace, wisdom, strength, and humility. So beautiful, so caring - it broke my heart for you and your children to lose her.

You've got another ally in heaven watching over you and your family now. You can still see her every day - in the eyes and smiles of your children. And you WILL see her again someday. Remember, Michael, that she chose YOU. And she chose you for a REASON. Be strong for those kids, for yourself and for April. My prayers are with you all.

God bless April and the Visco and Shovlin families.

Sincerely,

Grace Di Thomas-Di Virgilio

Dear Michael and family

Our deepest sympathies. We just heard of April's passing. I will always remember April as the beautiful girl in a straw hat watching the love her life playing ball at Frick park. She will always be associated with youth and fun and natural beauty and grace. Our hearts are with you and your children and April's family at this time of great loss.

April was the KINDEST person I ever met. She was as tough as they come until the very end. I will miss her greatly. She truly did have the will of a worrior. She will always live on through those four beutifull children. Stay strong Mike.

It was with deep sadness that I learned of April's passing. I may not have known her personally, but she touched so many lives just with her presence. My son, Stevie, has played with Marley at the pool. I cannot imagine what you all must be going through. Please find peace in knowing that she will always be in your hearts and your extra special guardian angel. May the sadness you are feeling now soon be replaced with the love you will all carry with you forever. May god hold all of your hearts in the palm of his hands. We all were blessed just by her presence.

April's Showers of Love

It is hard for us to understand

the Lord's mysterious way

It gives you small comfort

for what your friends, they will say

None can tell of your pain

the empty space you must feel

For your loss of April now

seems your heart may never heal

Four reminders you have

to see her in them each day

But to explain to each why

it will be hard to ever say

Children are the greatest

gift we can give

It's a testament to all

of how April lives

I wished there was something

that someone could do

To ease the great heartache each day

that you must carry through

The memories that you have

of pain now and joy when

Will bring you through the tough times

the remembrances of her and then

The love that you built

and the children you'd make

She will always be with you

and no one can ever take

You carry your love

like a weight from above

My prayers are with you

much respect for Mike Shov

Dear Michael,

I just learned today the sad news of the loss of your wife. My mom called to let me know. Though it has been many years since the "alley days of Wilkinsburg" and playing in the playhouse at 435 South Ave., I still have fond memories of growing up with all the neighborhood kids. I just wanted to express my sincere sympathy in the loss of April and to let you know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

I first met April as a young woman when she hung out with her friends in front of Burke's Deli where I worked. She was always polite and well mannered unlike some of the others. Our paths crossed again when a high school classmate (Cathrine Wandless) dated her brother Tony. Although Tony and Cathy didn't marry, April and she were closer than any sisters-in-law could be. Through the years I heard of her marriage, her beautiful children and of her second batttle with cancer via Cathrine. My heart breaks for her loved ones loss. She truely is a spirt who's light will never fade.

Our hearts ache for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a great wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and the list goes on. You must be feeling overwhelmed and in shock, thus the numbness. That numbness, or fog, is our way of protecting ourselves from what feel too painful to bear. It will wear off when you're ready to feel again. We hope that you find some degree of comfort knowing how many people send their prayers of concern and support. She will be missed but will NOT be forgotten. We pray for her family which meant so much to her. Her images were a gift to each of us in different ways. April, we look upward towards the heavens today and send you a gentle smile. Peaceful prayers are sent your way.

Keep in mind to please take comfort in the fact that she will always be there with you in your hearts.

You're all in our thoughts and have our deepest sympathies.
