Ardel Betz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 2, 2025.
Ardel Jae Betz, age 85, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, in Fresno, California.

She was born on April 6, 1940, in Lodi, California, where she and the family lived until they moved to Berkeley, California. Her life was marked by creativity, compassion, and a deep commitment to her faith.

Ardel was a devoted mother to her daughter Radel Swank and son Richard Swank. She also shared a close bond with her sister Kathy Moilanen, as well as her extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Betz; her parents, Esther and Norbert Stangler; her brother Norman Stangler; and her sister Sandra Swenson.

A woman of many talents and interests, Ardel found joy in crafting of all kinds. Whether it was rock painting or creating handmade gifts, she poured her heart into every project. Her love for baking was especially evident during the holidays when she gave family and friends a variety of homemade cookies and treats.

Ardel will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all whose lives she touched.

My Aunt Ardel was such a kind and loving person who did so much for so many people. I already miss her! I am so glad I was able to visit with her last month. These are some of my favorite photos of her... When we celebrated her birthday in Vegas, with my mom at Teneya Lodge (one of her favorite places), and when she dressed up as the Easter bunny for Morgan´s second birthday.

Ardel, you will be so greatly missed, my friend. You were a wonderful friend and so talented. I loved your baked goods and crafts! We had a great time together in TOPS and the various trips, etc that we took together. You were so considerate, generous, kind, and compassionate with a very positive attitude. I am sure that you are in heaven with the friends and family who have already passed and they get to have the benefit of your company now.

Ardel, us both having April birthdays, we had an instant connection, when you would come into my shop to buy your hair dye! However, we really became friends, that day you came in and I asked what was wrong and you said your husband had just passed. I gave you a hug and our friendship grew from that day.
I introduced you to my mom and you two also became great friends.
You had me bring mom over to make crafts with you. She so enjoyed your gatherings of crafts and lunch. I will always think of you at Christmas, when you would come
By with your plate of treats for me, my mom and my sister. Your cereal wreath was so pretty and always enjoyed by my kids. You were a beautiful and so talented lady, who loved God and will be missed. May you rest in peace
