Arlan Henderson

Mr. Arlan Stanley "Lanny" Henderson, age 81, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, in Plainfield, Illinois.

Born on December 6, 1943, and raised in Maywood, Illinois, Lanny was the beloved son of Stanley Leroy Henderson and Arla Ruth Henderson (née Ullrey). He built a life rooted in dedication to family, faith, and hard work.

Lanny devoted 42 years of his professional life to R.R. Donnelley & Sons, where his commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression. His long-standing career reflected not only his reliability but also his deep sense of responsibility and pride in his work.

A man of faith, Lanny was a longtime member of Community Presbyterian Church in Lombard, where he served as a Trustee. In more recent years, he attended Community Christian Church at Carillon. His involvement in church life was an important part of his identity and a reflection of the values he held dear.

Lanny had an incredible sense of humor and was very involved in his active retirement community, Carillon in Plainfield. He and his wife Gloria organized dancing events and were avid Bocce ball players.

Lanny was first married to Dee Anne Watkins on March 13, 1965 with whom he shared 45 cherished years before her passing. He later found love again and married Gloria Orangias on February 10, 2016 who survives him.

He was a devoted father to his son Scott Henderson (Janet), daughter Missy Grove (Bill) and stepsons Christopher Hainsworth (Katie) and William Hainsworth (Allysa).

As "Papa," Lanny took great joy in the lives of his grandchildren: Trevor Grove, Megan Grove, Kaitlyn Grove, Amanda Henderson, Delaney Henderson and Billy Hainsworth. His love for them was evident in every moment spent together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sharon Gale Gordon and brother William Leroy Henderson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 1st from 12:30 to 3:00 pm at Caddie's Bar and Grill, 21200 S. Carillon Dr., Plainfield, IL 60544. Those wishing to participate are requested to RSVP by e-mailing CelebrateLanny@thehendersonfamily.org or by calling (630) 538-6218.

Lanny's memory will live on through the family he loved so deeply and the many lives he touched throughout his journey. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
