Wilmington - Arlene Evans Brodie passed away peacefully at the age of 77 after a 2-year battle with ALS on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Legacy Hospice House in Ocala, Florida. She was surrounded by her husband and her two sons.

Arlene was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family immensely. She graduated from P.S. duPont High School in 1958 and Goldey-Beacom Business School in 1960. Arlene started her career at Edgemoor Credit Union, only stopping to raise her two sons. In the early 1980s, she returned to work at Kelly Staffing Services and eventually to Wilmington Trust Bank before retiring in 1998. Arlene was a 50+ year member of the Indian River Yacht Club, served on the Reunion Committee for P.S. Class of 1958, was a member of Sigma Beta Kappa while at P.S., and later a member of Beta Sigma Phi Women's Sorority.

Arlene enjoyed playing golf, bowling, pool, and cards. She had a lifelong love of dancing from ballet to the jitterbug and finally country line dancing. She read anything she could on American History, especially about our past presidents. She visited historical sites any chance she could. Visiting the beach and spending time at the family cottage in Riverdale gave her the most joy.

Arlene is preceded in death by her mother and father, Louise and Elwood Evans. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Vincent Brodie III; sons Jeffrey (Jackie) and Darren (Gina).

She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Matthew (Elise), Shannon, and Sloane, and her great-granddaughter, Elia. She is also survived by her brother, Elwood B. Evans and his wife, Phyllis Evans; niece Kimberly; nephew Brint (Heather) and two great-nieces, Courtney and Brooke. She is also survived by her life-long best friend, Gay Corrie and family friend, Amy Schoenleber (Walt).

Services will be held at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 2924 Concord Pike, Wilmington DE, 19803 on Friday, November 17, 2017. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Grace Episcopal Church.
