ARLENE FEINBERG Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 12, 2014.
FEINBERG--Arlene. Bone Marrow Registry co-Founder Arlene Feinberg Dies at 81. The Feinberg Family and the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation mourn the loss of the organization's co-founder, Arlene Feinberg. Together with her husband Jack, Arlene was a driving force in the grass roots growth of bone marrow donor registration in the United States and abroad for the benefit of patients suffering from blood cancers. Her pioneering efforts made possible bone marrow transplants for thousands of patients in need. The world is a better place thanks to Arlene Feinberg, a true hero, and her memory will live on through the lives she has saved. Arlene Feinberg is survived by her husband, Jacob, sons Jay, Edward and Steven, daughter-in-law Sheryl, granddaughters Shauna, Michelle and Skylar, and the entire Gift of Life organization she created. She will be missed by her countless friends. Contributions in her memory may be made at www.giftoflife.org.

A special and dear friend that I think of often and her determination to "not give up" in the search for marrow match for her son, Jay. She worked tirelessly along with her husband, Jacob. (Jack) It was a privilege to know, help, and love our dear, Arlene Cohen Feinberg.

Although two years have have passed, I still think of you daily, dear friend. You gave so much. Lives were saved. Your legacy is alive and well.
