Arlene Lorraine Prentice, age 94 of Sand Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Sand Lake on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Arlene was born on December 7, 1928 in Manton, Michigan, the daughter of James and Lottie (Merritt) Clawson. She enjoyed gardening, loved canning, listening to music, going fishing, and riding her bike and golf cart. Arlene collected quite a few dolls and crocheted clothing for them. According to her family, she made the best pies in the State! She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lottie (Merritt) Clawson; her husband, Frank A. Prentice; her son, Tim Prentice; her daughter-in-law, Judie Prentice, her daughter, Cathy Clawson, her daughter-in-law, Monzerrat Prentice; her brother, Clarence Clawson; and her special friend, Ira "Amos" Waters. Arlene is survived by her children, Ed (Gail) Prentice, Lee Prentice, Jim (Mary) Prentice, Frank Prentice, Dawn (Don) Goltz; her grandchildren, Courtney (Matt) Steers, Kerry Prentice, Cheryl Johnson, Shaun Welch, Roxanne (John) Saladin, Roscoe "RD" Merritt, Amanda Gitchel, Nick Prentice, Timmy (Marissa) Goltz, Nolan Goltz, Millie Goltz; her great grandchildren, Renae Steers, Zach Steers, Lizzie Steers, Jace Johnson, Jasmine Welch, James Welch, Viktor Welch, Evan Saladin, Andrew Saladin, Lexi Gitchel, Bryson Gitchel, and Malakai Garza, Collin Prentice, Braelynn Prentice, Hutsen Prentice, Bowden Prentice; and her nephew, David Clawson. Cremation will take place and a private burial will be held at Crandall Cemetery in Ensley Township.
