Arline C. Ardolino

Arline C. Ardolino, age 78 of Somerville, passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 17, 2022 with her loving family by her side, along with music by Anne Murray, Connie Francis and her favorite catholic songs. 

Devoted daughter to the late Howard and Eleanor Girard, she was born on July 28, 1943 in Somerville.  Sister to Mary Matthews of Somerville, Rose Girard and her husband Robert of San Fransisco, CA and the late John Girard of Norwich, VT.

Arline was the beloved wife for 35 years to the late Alexander (Andy) Ardolino, whom she married in 1968 and helped raise his three daughters, Patricia, Christine and Judith.  Together they had three more children and thirteen grandchildren.   They enjoyed many family vacations, especially summer vacations on Cape Cod with family and MANY friends.  Arline enjoyed yearly visits to Florida with her sister Mary, and most recently her trip to Aruba with her son Andy.

Arline’s greatest joy was her family, especially her thirteen grandchildren who she enjoyed sleepovers, vacations, school and recreational activities and many visits to the candy store on Cape Cod. Arline recently retired after 35 years from Harvard University Undergrad Dining Services, where she received the Harvard Hero’s Award and later, Mail Services in Accounts Payable.  Prior to her 35 years at Harvard, together with her husband, they owned and operated Handy Andy Donuts in Somerville for fifteen years.

Arline is survived by her son Andrew and his wife Tracey of Windham, NH, her daughter and best friend, Jennifer Jones and her husband Frank (Chip) from Burlington and her son David from Somerville and Judith McLaughlin from Lynn. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

 Funeral procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, Monday morning at 10am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Raphael Church, at 11:00. Relatives and friends invited.

Calling hours Sunday 3:00 - 6:00.

Interment private.
