Richard Hamilton Obituary
FAIRLAWN -- Richard L. Hamilton, 82, passed away Tuesday, April 17 surrounded by family and friends.
He was born July 13, 1935 to the late Keenos and Emma Hamilton.
Richard graduated from Barberton High school where he was active in athletics including baseball and track & field. He attended Akron U. and served in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life Elaine Hamilton (Meadows) in 1960 and remained together for 58 years. Richard remained active in sports playing baseball, softball, golf and bowling and began coaching in his later years. Although a Detroit sports fan at heart, he still enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Joyce (Phil) Bowman, and Norma (Bill) Iorio.
Richard is survived by his wife, Elaine Hamilton and his children: Debbie Smith, Tammy (Todd) Garber, and Matthew (Amanda) Hamilton; his grandchildren: Renee Klusty, Amy Smith, Victoria (John) Hamilton, Taylor Smith, Stephen (Becca) Garber, Austin Garber and Brayden Hamilton.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Cox -McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave. in Barberton, with Pastor Richard Lapehn officiating. Family will receive friends two hours prior from 1 to 3 p.m. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Tuesday, April 24, 2018.

A tribute to a quiet, kind, and gentle man I had the honor and privilege of knowing. When Tammy and I moved in together, our dads were always there for us. I will always remember Mr. Hamilton. May you now rest in peace in the arms of our Lord.

I remember Dick from back in the 1940's, 1950's, and 1960's when we went to the Barberton schools. I also went to his wedding in 1960 when he married Elaine at the First United Presbyterian Church. My mother Elverna and his mother Emma were good friends. My sympathy goes out to his family and friends

I hope you know how great of a man you were. Thanks for making me feel like family everytime I saw you. I remeber going to an Indians game with you guys and someone was asking who was the greatest, and your answer was shoeless Joe. Wish they could have won a series for you. I know that there are plenty of people you will get to see again, please look for Jenny and take care of her like you took care of me.
