Armando Vela Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 24 to Mar. 25, 2009.

VELA, Armando
Entered into rest March 20, 2009 at the age of 55. Beloved husband to Mary Vela. Dear brother of Jr. (Linda), Jessie (Carol), Joe (Tina), Arthur (Betty), Mary, Amy, Linda and John. Cherished father of Armando Vela Jr., MaryAnn Vela & Becky Vela. Also beloved stepfather of Sarah, Consuelo, Dan & Kathleen Velez. Devoted grandfather and beloved uncle who loved his nieces and nephews unconditionally. Who loved to fish with his brothers and most of the time it wasn't about the biggest fish, but the biggest fish tale. When asked where he caught his 37 lb. catfish, he would simply reply ''The River''. The secret spot was never revealed. Sorry bro's. At a young age he asked his mom ''Do you know what I want to be when I grow up?'' ''A dinosaur''. Not long after that he picked up a fishing pole and it was bye bye dinosaur. Recitation of the Rosary will be Wednesday March 25, 2009 at 6:00pm in the River Cities Funeral Chapel, with the Mass of Christian Burial offered Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:00am at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1321 Anna St., West Sac. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.

10 years, and it still feels like yesterday. Wish you could see the boys play football I know you would get a kick out of watching them. There's so much I would like to say to you, I know you would understand, you always had a way of letting us know everything was going to be alright. I wish I could see you just to give you another hug. Love you Uncle Mondo miss you.

I am very sorry for the loss of Uncle Mondo. It was nice to have him as part of my life story. His humor, kindness and laugh will be greatly missed. You are all in my prayers! God bless...

Uncle Mondo,

I hope you got to tell my daddy I love him like we talked about. I am glad I got to tell you good-bye before you left this place. I know if there is a fishing hole somewhere up there in heaven, you are probably sitting at it right now. I am grateful to have known you. Because of you Ray-Ray will always be known as Apple Head, a name that has been passed on to his lil brother Andres. We all miss you. God Bless until we meet again.

uncle Mondo;

I never realized how short life was until, he was gone it s like i never really got to tell him how much i truely did love him; i never got to show him how thankful i was for having a wonderfull man like my uncle mondo in my life and in everyone elses he meant a lot to everyone; and he had a effect on everyone. if you knew him. then you truly met a angel on earth. he would always be smileing and constantley laughing. he is in a better place now and it is not goodbye forever it is only ill see you soon. i am not going to take the big things in life for granted. because you never know when it could be taken from you. but uncle mondo taught me to be strong always. no matter how hard the fight is. because in the end the fight was worth it..........

I was saddened to hear of Armando's passing. He was a great guy who treated my family as if we were a part of his own. I have not been in contact with Armando in over 20 years, but was very happy to read about how much joy he brought to his family. His family will be in my prayers.

Daddy,
We were blessed to have you as a father, and now we are blessed to have you as our Angel. You showed us that family is everthing, and to always love unconditionally. You taught us to stand proud and to never go without a fight. As you did in your last hours here with your loved ones by your side. We will always have you in our thoughts, and we will miss you tremendously. Especially your laughter.

Love you

Uncle Mondo,

As the wife of your oldest nephew, I have been around a very long time. I have so many memories; mostly of you cracking jokes and laughing so hard you could barely stand up. I am sure I can speak for the wives of the other nephews; you always treated us with love and respect and praised us for taking care of your nephews and our families. I hope you are at peace, it was hard seeing you in pain during the last year. I just know your are the newest comedian in heaven and making everyone laugh! Thank you for all the joy and happiness you brought to the family. . .you will be greatly missed by everyone. I love you.

Uncle Mondo,

Those two words mean so much to the Vela family, Love, Compassion, Caring, Inspiration, he gave his all to every one of us that is what he did. When we thought the whole world was crashing down on us Uncle Mondo had the ability to show us the light. When he smiled and laughed the entire room would be filled with his joy. It is immeasuralble the love we recieved from you and limitless the things you would do to see that everything was going to be okay. Uncle Mondo I love you so much I hope all his nephews & nieces agree with me God could not have given us a greater uncle. Uncle Mondo I am so glad my wife and I and my boys got to see you and you stood right up and gave them all a hug and things were as they should have been. Everyone happy smilling laughing talking I'm glad to have seen that smile on your face. because its that same smile that is allowing me to be strong right now I know you would have wanted me too. I love you so much I will miss you, and I will keep what you brought to me and all the family alive. Love, compassion, Carring, and inspiration. Stinky, Tumby, Becky
stand tall be proud because your father was an angel before he even went to heaven & I know he may not be here now but he will find a way to give us even more now that he is.
We love you, and god bless

Devo, Tumby & Becky

Words cannot express the grief and sadness I feel in my heart. Uncle Mondo was one of my favorite Uncle's and I will never forget him. The memories I have of him will be treasured forever. May god give you all the strength and courage to get through this. Uncle Mondo is now our Angel up above and I know he has his entire family under his wings. We all know that he's in a better place now and someday we will all be together again. I love you guys and am here if you need me or anything.
