We are sorry to hear of your loss and the challenges that you all have faced over the past few years. It was pretty cool growing up on the crescent with you and having bragging rights to living so close to an Olympian! Lillian & Brenda Long

So sad to read of Arnes' passing - we have known him for many years through the mutual love of shooting sports. He was such a quiet, gentle man and will surely be missed by everyone who knew him.
We still have the wooden shoes.

I was 4 years old when I first met Arne. Little did I know that I would enjoy shooting rifles with Arne only a handful of years later. It started with small bore or 22 caliber target rifles first and later when I was 16 and took up full bore or 307 caliber target rifles. My dad started me off shooting but when I started shooting full bore at the Calgary Sarcee range, it was Arne who took me under his wing. He was like my dad away from home and it wasn't too hard since we both had the same last name. Arne was always the person we looked up to and aspired to be like. He was quiet and reserved and but would always give you an informed and honest an opinion. Arne was the first person I went to for advise and I don't remember going down the wrong way once. Arne was always a fun guy to be around and if you ever heard Arne laugh, you'd remember it forever.
Some people will spend their whole life trying to get good at something and some people will tell you how good they are at something but Arne did neither. He was simply an unbelievable rifle shooter and he always let his rifle do the talking. Arne was a good friend to me and he will be forever in my memory. I am going to miss him now that he's gone, but I'll find solace in my memories of him!

Arne was a very close friend to our family. When Arne first came to Canada, my dad gave him a place to stay. My dad encouraged Arne to come with him to the shooting range and they shot together many times. When I was growing up, Arne came out to Strathmore to visit often. He gave me my first ride on his motorbike and I would sit with him while he shot gophers. We have so many wonderful memories of Arne and he will be greatly missed by our family.
