Arnold Burkholder Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 18, 2022.
Arnold Leslie Burkholder, 58, of Katy, Texas, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 after an extended battle with congestive heart failure.

Arnold was born on May 30, 1964 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania to Lester and Lois Burkholder. He grew up in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Moon High School in 1982, where he enjoyed playing football and was active on the high school wrestling team. He earned an Associate's degree in Culinary Arts from The Culinary School of Washington in 1985, and then a Disney Culinary Arts Degree in 1990. One of Arnold's favorite places was in the kitchen cooking for friends, family and strangers where he poured his heart into every dish that he plated. He worked in a variety of kitchens ranging from Disneyworld hotels, country clubs, resorts, hospitals, and start-up kitchens.

Arnold found a new calling in genealogical research and obtained an Associate's Degree in Family History Research from BYU-Idaho in 2020. Arnold was the Program Director for the Houston Genealogical Forum from 2018-2019, and enjoyed arranging and meeting speakers for each monthly meeting. He coordinated and organized two events with the TV show Relative Race, and enjoyed meeting the contestants and eventually the host, Dan Debenham. Arnold loved genealogy, and helped so many people find family, both still living and long gone. In December 2021, he won a writing contest sponsored by The Houston Genealogical Forum for a paper about a distant cousin.

Arnold moved to Houston in 2003 when he married Roshella Hoyt Burkholder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Leslie Burkholder, Jr. and Lois Loiselle Burkholder. He leaves behind his loving wife Roshella Burkholder of Katy, TX and siblings Victor Lee Heller, Nancy Burkholder Mardo, Lester Burkholder, Howard Burkholder, Lois Ann Burkholder Baker, and too many nephews and nieces to mention, whom he loved dearly.

Arnold was a loved husband and friend. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

The Burkholder family would like to give a special thanks to all the medical staff who cared for Arnold and for all those who were able to visit him during this time.

A visitation will be held at 6:00pm to 9:00pm Wednesday, June 22, 2022 in the chapel of Katy Funeral Home at 23350 Kingsland Blvd. Katy, TX 77384.

A brief graveside service for family and those who wish to join will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery 12800 Westheimer Rd. Houston, TX 77077 at 9:00am Thursday, June 23, 2022.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am to 12:00pm Saturday, June 25, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1603 Norwalk Katy, TX 77450. Link to view live-stream memorial service will be provided soon.
