Arnold Dickens, of Modesto, CA passed away at the age of 95 on April 22, 2011 with his family by his side.
Arnold was born in Richey, Missouri to Joseph and Alice Dickens. After graduating form High School, he moved with his family to Salida, California. Arnold worked several jobs in the agricultural industry before establishing a successful career in farming.
In 1945, Arnold married Helen Paioni. Together they raised 2 sons, Jerry and Tom. Along with spending time with his family on the farm, he enjoyed several outdoor hobbies. Arnold enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, waterskiing and taking in as many ball games as possible. The most important thing to him was having his family by his side in all he did. Arnold will be remembered for his integrity, generosity, and leadership.
Arnold was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stanisulaus County Swiss Club, Modesto Elks Lodge, Stanislaus County Farm Bureau and Western Growers. He was also a long time member of Tri Valley Growers.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Helen, parents, Joseph and Alice, brothers, Lloyd, Harold, and Onel, and sister, Anna Lou.
Arnold is survived by his children, Jerry Dickens (Kathy) of Knights Ferry, and Tom Dickens (Sharlene) of Modesto. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Amy Taylor (Jason), Nicole Hixon (Jason), Joe Dickens (Amy), Matt Dickens (Jenna), Kenny Dickens (Lindsay) and 13 great grandchildren.

Our deepest sympathy to all of the Dickens family...you all lost one of the last quality people in the Empire area...I hope that your father Arnold will say hello to my dad when he is up there...we all have the greatest respect for Arnold he was the best...God bless all of you and give you the strength in this very difficult time..Haig Arakelian and family.
