Arnold Jastremski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 17, 2018.
Peacefully, on March 10, Arnold left us one day shy of his 84th birthday. Arnold was the first of his siblings to immigrate to Canada in 1957 from Germany and was a founding member of the German Maple Leaf Almrausch Club. He was a cabinet maker by trade, known for his love of the land, inability to let anything useful go to waste, and tireless work ethic. Arnold was happiest at the family farm progressing one of the many projects he had on his long list and is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ellen, son John (Nicole), granddaughter Adele, daughter Margaret, son Richard (Christiane), granddaughter Yola and grandsons Nick and Max. A very special thanks to the nurses and caregivers at the Grace Manor, where Arnold spent his final years, for their loving care and compassion. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Wesleyan Church, on Sunnyside and Grosvenor on May 5, 2018 at 2pm with a reception to follow. Memorial donations to Wesleyan Silver Lake Camp, http://www.slwc.ca/ are welcome and appreciated.

Ellen, John and Richard

Very sorry to hear of the loss of your husband and father. We had lots of nice memories with all of you over the years either at a soccer field, the Maple Leaf Almraush clubhouse, our house on Rita and of course "Arnold's farm."
Our thought and prayers to all of you and I hope all the nice memories of Arnold give you comfort.
Much love

Sorry for your loss. I know how much this man meant to the Jastremski family. I hope you find peace in knowing that he built the foundation of what is now a true "community family" in Ottawa. He can finally rest in peace, and I'm sure he is enjoying a feast now.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Jastremski family. I recall one visit to the farm years ago when Arnold had Rich and I push a tractor down a hill in the middle of winter to start the engine. What an experience.

Dear Ellen, I'm so sorry for your loss. As you know, I was very fond of Arnold. I had the pleasure of visiting him every week at the Grace just to say hello and see how he was. I will miss him. Sylvia, Grace Manor Volunteer.
