Mr. Arnold W. Williams, a former long-time resident of Melrose, died Tuesday evening September 13, 2005 in Falmouth, ME. Mr. Williams was born in Melrose, MA, December 23, 1911, son of the late Merton D. Williams and Mary E. (Weaver) Williams. Mr. Williams was a 1930 graduate of Melrose High School. He graduated from Northeastern University in 1935 with a BS degree in Business Administration. He was a long-time member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Melrose and former Vestryman and Warden of the Church. He was also the former assistant organist of Trinity Church, having studied piano under Felix Fox of Boston. He was the author of a history of Trinity Church. He was the former Chairman of the Melrose Historical Commission and past President and Director of the Melrose Historical Society. He was also a member of the 100th Anniversary Committee of the Melrose Public Library. He retired as Assistant Secretary of Arkwright Mutual Insurance Company of Waltham, one of the Associated Factory Mutual Insurance Companies. He had a lifelong interest in philately and an ardent interest in genealogy having been a direct descendent of Stephen Hopkins of the Mayflower. Arnold was the husband of Christine M. (Hillers) Williams. Father of Nancy H. Crosby and her husband Douglas W. of Portland, ME and Richard A. Williams and his wife, Sharon of Milton, MA. Brother of the late M. Dudley Williams, Marjorie M. Osgood and Dorothy E. Seely. Grandfather of Jeffrey D. Crosby, Christine C. Jenkins and her husband, Jeremy, Danielle E. Williams, Mark R. Williams and Adam B. Williams. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral service at Trinity Church, 131 West Emerson St., Melrose, Monday, September 19, 2005 at 11AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to Trinity Church, 131 West Emerson St., Melrose, MA 02176. Interment will be in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose, MA. Arrangements by Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St. Melrose, MA.
