Artemio Ignacio Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 6, 2023.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving father, Artemio D. Ignacio Jr. He entered into the place of eternal rest on January 31st, 2023 at the tender age of 80-years-old. He was born to parents Artemio Ignacio Sr. and Saturnina Ignacio on January 14th, 1943, in his hometown of San Jose, Nueva Ecija, Philippines.

Artemio, known to many as Jun, will be remembered as an esteemed anesthesiologist, a walking encyclopedia, a history buff, a lover of music, movies, food, sports and travel. He had the gift of the gab and always loved to have a drink and “bend elbows” with anyone in the room. He can be heard raising his glass to you with his famous well-wish phrase, “all the best!” With a passion for the finer things in life he lived his life to the fullest. He celebrated each new day as a gift and was driven by the saying, “this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad”. He was a loving husband, a proud Lolo (grandfather) to his favorite grandson JP and an adoring father to his children.

Artemio is preceded in death by his wife, Fe Ignacio; his parents, Artemio Ignacio Sr. and Saturnina Ignacio.

Artemio is survived by his four children Mari (Matt) Gordon, Mike Ignacio, Jane Ignacio (Scott Terry), Rich Ignacio; grandson JP Terry; and his sister Lorna Santa Ines.

A private funeral mass will be held at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago for family only.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the
American Heart Association, in dad’s honor.

I actually spoke to Jun 3 weeks ago and he sounded so sad and lonely,
after the death of his wife, Fe, just a few weeks ago.
Jun was my best buddy in Pre med and Med school .Sadly we were not
able to connect as much as I would want. I will forever miss you.
Rest In Peace, my friends, Jun and Fe from Joe (Lito) Almario UST Med Class '67

I talked to him over the phone a week before; I also knew Fe Macahasa as we were all interns at JRRMH. Jun from UST and Fe from MCU united together for lifetime partnership. It was a very enjoyable and fruitful year (1966 to 1967) as we all mingled, socialized and advanced our professional lives. I visited Jun and Fe in their residence while we were training in Chicago. We exchanged cards over the years, updating our activities and family lives.
We will all miss the couple's passing. We have Jun and Fe in our daily evening prayer. May the Good Lord and His Blessed Mother keep them in their company in heaven and God give their family strength as they deal with these trying times. Amen.. . . . Andy Alisuag UST MED Class 1967

"A HAPPY SORROW"
Husband Artemio and Wife Fe Ignacio together again in eternal peace with God Almighty.
Yes, no more pain and suffering from all your chronic ailments. In the bosom of your Creator,
You will forever be happy. You were just apart 32 days on earth, before finally the Lord called
Artemio (Jun) so you two shall be forever in heaven together. This is what I meant, Mari when
I spoke to you. Your family are in real sorrow and grief, those who are left behind.

Let Us Pray For Our UST MEDICINE 1967 C
Compassionate and Gracious God, we come to you today to thank you for giving us a chance to live and know Artemio Ignacio Jr. and Flassmatee M. Ignacio who recently left this world to come into your presence. Lord God Almighty, we know that Artemio and Fe were not perfect; that is why we ask you to forgive them where they went wrong and give them eternal rest. Subject: RIP Jun Ignacio

It is really sad that Jun Ignacio left after he himself lost his wife a month earlier. We can only pray for the eternal repose of their souls together with all our faithful departed in our class, among other friends and our respective families. Jun and I together with a few of our classmates (Dulce, Vicky Garcia, Redentor, Edgar, my late tocayo Abrenica) spent time together during residency at St. Luke’s Medical Center after graduation - one of the most fun times in our young lives as new MD’s. Jun trained in anesthesiology and practiced in Indiana for many years until his health issues caught up with him. He was a fellow MP during our ROTC days. Rest In Peace ...Danny and Leila Deano Class '67

Artemio (Junior, Lolo) was a delight! We met after our son and Lolo's daughter Jane became engaged, and he was so interesting and colorful. We are Jane's in-laws and our grandson JP said that his Lolo was the smartest man in the world. And when Lolo's sign began to wane, we hear that JP would go to his house and read to Lolo.

Tribute To My Good Friend Forever: Artemio Desierto Ignacio Jr., M.D.

From: Roger Guico He was a product of our town’s public elementary school where both his parents were full time teachers, most likely the reason I found him as a well rounded, friendly and intelligent high school freshman when I met him for the first time at St. Joseph School in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.
Our friendship blossomed during high school and famously given by other student a nickname
Mutt and Jeff based on a popular newspaper comic story which is still printed even today. We were inseparable in class, after class, on weekends and summer vacations. After High School graduation,
our lives took a different direction and only when we met again at the first year of medical school that
we both embarked on the same field of study and career. However, we both had found a new set of friends which drift us apart though we still say our hellos. We both had our internship at the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Hospital (formerly North General Hospital) where he met his future wife from Manila Central University. Dr. Fe Macahasa.
I left Manila in the end of 1967 to do my internship and residency training in Chicago while he went to St. Luke’s Hospital for training. A big surprise when I met Artemio and Fe a few years later in Chicago.
I was ecstatic when I was chosen to be The Godfather of his son, Michael, his second child. We then
always socialized in Chicago with his growing family of four children until he found a permanent Anaesthesiologist position in Indiana. It was there that Fe told me of that scary very loud shout she heard from Jun which turned out to be from a Subarachnoid Bleeding from a Ruptured Cerebral Aneurysm. Many years back, but with perseverance and physical rehabilitation and with the grace of God, Jun improved and survived and almost regained his full motor function. Despite his physical limitations, Jun still continued to attend our high school reunion in Las Vegas and the most recent in 2016 when Cecilia Anzures Antle, another childhood friend and classmate and townmate together with her husband Jeff Antle invited several classmates from across the U.S. to spend a week in their house and farm in Naples, Florida. We had a blast.
My wife Joy and I visited Fe and Jun in 2018 in their downtown Chicago condo and had a great time enjoying the lunch they prepared for us. Despite losing most of his visual capacity, he still joked and enjoyed life to the fullest together with a bottle of beer in his hand. I always will miss you Jun.
If any one of you is still wondering about Mutt and Jeff, it is because of our huge height difference
which to both of us is immaterial as long as we remained friends forever.
May God bless you and keep you in His bossom.
Rogelio Ramirez Guico, M.D.
