Through the years Jr was always there for my family when we needed something 'fixed'. Whether it was a welding project or a pond cleaned. As I grew up, the Barks family has also been a part of my life. I wish there were words that would take away the pain of your loss. Jr will be terribly missed. Guess we all need to remember he is in a much better place!

In l963, I had Arthur in class at Heth Washington Grade School. He would always raise his hand first if I asked a questioin. I called him to the front and put him in the first seat in the front row. I told him, if he was going to answer all the questions, he should be in the front! For a spelling test, I had him learn the longest word in the dictionary. That word was antidislestablishmentarianism. Every time I saw him, he could still spell that word! In my 50 years of teaching, he is one of the most memorable students that I have ever had!

Arthur was one of my
first students at Heth Washington in l963. He would always have his hand up if I asked a question, so I moved him to the front of the class. I had him memorize the longest word in the dictionary for a spelling assingment. The word was antidisestablishmentarianism. He could still spell this word every time I saw him. I will remember him as being one of the smartest students in my 50 years of teaching!

I was saddened that the community had lost one of its best friends, Jr Barks this week. Jr and I grew up south of Corydon near Central in the "Snyderville" community. He was older than me and so we both moved in different circles - but we were still friends.
I remember back several years ago Jr helped in the plans of a surprise birthday party for a mutal friend, Buck Mathes at what was at the time - a local watering hole "Donahue's". Niece, Donna, was in charge of getting Buck there at the desiginated time after we all had had time to arrive and to be ready to say "SURPRISE!" It was Buck's big 50 I think. Well needless to say we were all walking back and forth that night - because Donna couldn't get Buck there and Jr was thinking it wasn't going to work out. Donna got Buck there and we all had a good time getting together. Jr did a good job because Buck was really surprised by that one!
Rose - I am truly sorry for your loss. I hope that you take comfort in that Jr had a good soul, touched many lives and I hope that by sending our caring gesture of friendship that such memories carry you forward in the days ahead.
