I had the privilege of interviewing Arthur a few years ago for a story on his basketball invention for The Basketball Times.
He was kind, patient with my questions and entertaining recalling his experiences in creating an important -- and lasting -- part of basketball history. I hope his prototype found a good home, as he asked me not long after we spoke if I could help him find a home for it.
I just wanted to reach out to you, his family, and to anyone reading, because I was thinking of him today and happened to come across his obituary. May his family and friends continue to be comforted in faith and my his soul rest in peace.
Thank you, Arthur, for your time. -C.

As the person who drove my family from the refugee camp in Arkansas to our home in Virden, Art became family from Day 1. So sorry we could not be there to pay our respects. He was a wonderful man and deeply loved.

Sorry to hear of Art's passing. It was nice Chuck & I sat in the tent with Art & Mary during Rt. 66 week-end, Art showing his basketball hoop. I carried the hoop to car for them, he said he would repay me in Heaven someday. So he's there doing for others now. Great guy, known him since we started farming long ago..........Judy & Chuck Foster
