He was born in Fitchburg on Oct. 13, 1918, son of the late Alfred and Laura (Gagnon) Gadoury. He served in the United States Army during World War II with the Company C 53rd Armored Infantry Battalion. During his service, he achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant and earned the Purple Heart, the Silver Star, the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Distinguished Unit Badge and the Victory Medal.
Mr. Gadoury was the business manager for the Eastwood Club for many years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the AMVETS.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Irene (Leger) Gadoury; three sons, Thomas Gadoury and his wife, Cheryl, of Clifton Park, N.Y., Richard Gadoury of Ashburnham, and Paul Gadoury and his wife, Lisa, of Hampden, Maine; six grandchildren, Nicole White, Krisann Gadoury, Adam Gadoury, Sean Gadoury, Jordan Gadoury and Morgan Gadoury, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Albert Gadoury, Paul Gadoury, Philip Gadoury, and two sisters, Marie Phelps, and Lorraine Cordio.
GADOURY -- Funeral services will be held privately under the direction of Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
