Arthur Nudelman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 25, 2024.
Arthur Nudelman of Boynton Beach, FL and Florham Park, NJ died January 22, 2024. He was 84.

Born July 15, 1939 to the late David Nudelman and Peggy Gabins Nudelman, he graduated Columbia High School in Maplewood. When he headed off to Washington & Jefferson College, he left behind his sweetheart, Arlene Ziss. And while at W&J, he met the (very) diminutive Hilary Kleckner, whom he wed in 1961, the day after graduating Magna Cum Laude from said college.

After graduating with a J.D. from Rutgers Law School, Arthur joined his father's law firm, which was renamed Nudelman & Nudelman. Nine months later, their first (and favorite) child was born. Linda Beth's birth was chronicled in his daily diary, nestled between dictation, file-backs, and docketing. Three years later, feeling cocky after having such a perfect child, the couple welcomed a son, Andrew Scott. That took the cockiness down a notch.

Arthur built the family a new home in Livingston, NJ - not literally, since the man couldn't even change a light bulb. But he did approve the architectural renderings and gave thumbs-ups at various points throughout the construction process.

Sadly, Hilary died prematurely in 1983. Happily, Arthur found wedded bliss again - with Arlene Ziss. (Gals, if that doesn't give you some vestige of hope for your own broken hearts, I don't know what will.)

Arthur welcomed Arlene's children, Gary Kaplan and Judy Kaplan Pizzano into his heart and life, and this expanded family of six eventually grew with the addition of their beloved son-in-law, Tom Pizzano II, and two adored grandsons, Matt and Brett Pizzano.

It should be noted that, as much as Arthur loved his work before his retirement, he loved his family far more. He also loved golf, chocolate, the NJ Devils, opera, Led Zeppelin, and his hobbies which, depending on the phase of his life included photography, collecting Oriental rugs (and counting all the colors woven into them), reading historical fiction, and birdwatching (via the Internet).

In his children, Arthur instilled a deep knowledge of world and state capitals, the ability to out-pun anyone, a sense of humor, and a love of British comedy.

In addition to his wife, Arlene, children Linda Donahue and Andrew Nudelman, stepdaughter Judy (Tom) Pizzano, grandsons Matt and Brett Pizzano, and stepson Gary Kaplan, he is survived by numerous (grand)nieces and (grand)nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any of these organizations on Arthur's behalf: Trustbridge (Hospice of Palm Beach County) at trustbridge.com, the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or Feeding America.

He was my boss for 12 years at the Law Firm in NJ. He had a heart of gold. He had guided me when I suffered two losses in my family.
I will be forever grateful. RIP Mr N
