HAVERHILL — Mr. Arthur Ohanian, 74, of Haverhill, died Sunday morning, Feb. 21, 2010 at Wingate at Haverhill.
He was born in Methuen, Jan. 24, 1936, son of the late Charles and Susie (Hunarian) Ohanian, and was educated in the Haverhill school system. From 1955 to 1957, he served in the United States Army, stationed in Texas.
Mr. Ohanian was employed in the local shoe industry for a period of time. For over 25 years, he was employed as a foreman at Raymond's Turkey Farm, Methuen. He was also employed as a truck driver for the State of Massachusetts for three years, and as an attendant for Haffner's Gas Station for 11 years. A member of the Son's of Italy, Arthur enjoyed trips to Foxwoods.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Asadorian) Ohanian who died in 1989, and his survivors include a daughter and granddaughter; two sisters, Mary Hanedanian of Haverhill, and Shirley and her husband Martin Aaronian of Atkinson, N.H.; a brother, George Ohanian of Merrimack, N.H.; two nieces and two nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services were held yesterday, Feb. 24, at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, with burial in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Armenian Church at Hye Pointe, 110 Main St., Haverhill, MA 01830. Condolences to his family may be made at www.farmerfuneralhomes.com.
