Arthur Pope Obituary
Arthur Lewis Pope, Jr. born April 27, 1950 passed away on April 23, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was the son of Arthur L. Pope, Sr. and Mary L. Rowell.
A graduate of Newton High School in 1968, Arthur went on to serve in the United States Navy for 25 years, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Following his military retirement, he pursued higher education at Del Mar College in Texas, earning an associate degree in psychology.
In 1993, Arthur began a new chapter as a probation officer for young adults and juveniles in San Patricio County, Texas. In this role, he served as a mentor and guide to many. His commitment to service extended into community involvement through the Coastal Bend Elks Lodge #1625, where he held the positions of financial secretary and State Scribe for Texas.
Arthur found joy in family, friends, music, sports, cooking, and supporting young people. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Carter-Pope; three children Nevtavia Pope, Arthur L. Pope III, and Robert A. Pope; grandchildren Dejah F. Pope, Hannah E. Beauchamp-Pope, and Gisele Pope; brother Carl Pope; sisters Carolyn Lincoln and Sandra A. Baynes; along with a host of extended family and friends.
A memorial service honoring Arthur's life was held on April 30, 2025, at the Brooks AME Worship Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Arthur's legacy of service and mentorship will be remembered by all who knew him.

My name is Mark Vasquez from California. I served with chief Pope in the early 70´s. We called him Artie and he was a tremendous individual. I remember his humor and his ability to talk with anyone. He was a great asset to the Navy. My condolences to his entire family. May he rest in eternal peace. "Semper Fi"
