Arturo Arriola Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 11, 2018.
Art was born at March AFB where his father served in the Air Force. He was a happy baby. He lived in El Paso, Texas with his parents from 6 months to almost 3 years. In June 1973, his family moved to San Diego where they lived mostly in the south bay when Art was growing up. He ran track in high school and won awards for his running abilities. He graduated from Hilltop High School in 1988. He attended Southwestern Junior College and then transferred to San Diego State where he majored in bilingual education. He was very industrious and had some kind of job from 14 years and on. He had many friends who loved him. He had an easy going personality, big smile and laugh, and loved to talk and joke with people. He had a big heart! In May 1994, he married Dawn Hendricks and in February 1995, their first son, Paul, was born. Art became his soccer coach when Paul was around 5 because there was no coach for Paul's team. Art didn't really know a lot about soccer, but soon learned the game. In 2002, their second son, Artie, was born. Artie liked to run like his Dad. Art was always very active in his boys' lives and loved to watch them play sports. Art loved his boys and they loved him. He was so proud of them always. He left us far too soon, but his memory lives on with all of us. He is finally at peace and rest with God and all his family who have gone before him. We are blessed to have had him in our lives.

In lieu of flowers, a Go Fund Me Page has been set up for Art's son, Artie, to help with college expenses. The link is gf.me/u/mvfv7p or if preferred, a contribution can be made to your favorite charity in Art's honor.

Art was one of the most sensitive, caring, thoughtful, FUN souls I ever have had the pleasure to know. The love he had for his family- his mom, his dad, his CHERISHED SONS - Paul and Artie - was insurmountable. It's all he talked about and lived for. Art is the type that would give his shirt off of his back for a human in need. His taste in music and comedy was amazing as well - he loved to laugh, enjoy life and make others feel 100%.

He valued friendship and the love of family over all else. He is with us now and is SO proud of the family he created. He is missed more than he ever would have known - he was humble and kind. He was a gift to anyone who knew him. We LOVE you Art. I will forever be THANKFUL that our journey's coincided.
