Asher HAMER Obituary
December 22, 1913 - February 27, 2014
Asher Hamer passed away peacefully at his Vancouver home, where he recently celebrated his hundredth birthday with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Raised in Regina, he moved his family to Vancouver after the Second World War. When he was able to take time off from his men's clothing business, he enjoyed golfing and boating. After retirement, he was able to indulge in the best of both worlds - golfing in Palm Springs in the winter, and boating in Vancouver during the summer. Asher was ever the gracious host and his passion for entertaining friends at dinner was only exceeded by his eagerness for a game of bridge afterwards. Asher is remembered fondly by his many friends and his children Ken (Gigi), Shelly (Matthew), Jeffrey, and Leslie; his grandchildren Katharine (Gerry), Anna (Alfonso), Matthew, and Emily, as well as three young great-grandchildren Allegra, Isabel, and India. The family members wish to express their most sincere gratitude to Asher's longterm caregivers Elaine and Nansy who made it possible for him to remain in his home in comfort until the end.

I remember Asher giving heart when he was part of the Diamonds of the Desert Chapter for City of Hope. My condolences to his family.

Condolences to the family.He was such a fine gentleman. I have good memories from the time I worked for him, in the Hastings and also the Granville store. Way back in 1969.

Your father and grandfather was an amazing individual who was a bright spirit in everyone's life. I was so lucky to have known and worked for him. I had never ever cooked a turkey until you came to the desert, and joined him for Thanksgiving.
Macademia nuts and white wine were always present in the house. He was a very special individual!
