Ashton LEIGH Obituary

LEIGH, A. Ashton Jr., 73, died October 2, 2010 at his home. Ashton was born December 8, 1936 in Gloucester County to the late Alvin A. Sr. and Ruth Motley Leigh. He was a graduate of the first graduating class of Gloucester High School in 1955 and from the Newport News Apprentice School. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from McGraw - Morgan, Inc., Richmond, Va., as a field engineer after 46 years. His parents, and a brother, John Douglas Leigh preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Eleanor W. Leigh; daughter, Melanie Leigh Mathewes and husband, Perry; granddaughters, Leigh and Clare Mathewes; brother, H. Wayne Leigh and wife, Donna. Funeral services, officiated by Reverend Arthur L. Wolz, Jr., will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests donations in memory of A. Ashton Leigh be made to the Hermitage Museum and Gardens, 7636 North Shore Road, Norfolk, Va. 23505. www.thfm.org
