Aubrey Allen Ellis, 79, of Woodford, passed away on February 11, 2016 at Mary Washington Hospital. Born March 22, 1936 in Fredericksburg, he was the son of the late Aubrey E. and Clara Ellis. A 1954 graduate of James Monroe High School, he was an Electrical Contractor in Fredericksburg for over 50 years, joining his father in business right after high school. Aubrey later started Electric Resources, Inc. with partner L. Wayne Burnette and worked until his retirement. He retired to his home of 30 years, Broadview Farm, where he continued to work and find joy in his animals, family and farm. He served on the Stafford County Planning Commission and was an active member of the Fredericksburg and Hartwood Volunteer Fire Departments. Survivors include his wife, Barbara W. Ellis, two daughters, Beth Abato(Jack) of Waynesboro, and Dori Kirtley (Jim) of Fredericksburg; two grandchildren, Megan Abato and Jake Kirtley; and an aunt, Lucy Ann Garner of Fredericksburg. A service will be held Saturday Feb. 20, 2016 at 1 PM at Christ Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg. Visitation with the family will be after the service. (PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS A CHANGE) In Lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Mary Washington 2300 Fall Hill Avenue, Fredericksburg, VA., Fredericksburg SPCA, 10819 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22408 or Christ Lutheran Church, 1300 Augustine Avenue, Fredericksburg, VA. 22401.

I haven't known Allen very long but have consider him a dear friend. I will miss baking goodies for him, sitting and visiting with him when I would come to the farm to work. We had some good talks and laughs. My thoughts and prayers go out to Barb and his family. Love, Vanessa
