AUDREY BLACKBURN
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Audrey Lynn Blackburn, 28, came into this world as an angel on February 3, 1987, with curly blonde hair, those stunning blue eyes, and a smile that was so infectious she made everyone smile. Her love and compassion were evident with everyone she met, even if she only knew you for a short amount of time. All who met her say the same. The impact that she made on people will stay with them a lifetime.
Audrey was a 2005 graduate from Pikeville High School. In 2010, she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Columbia University in New York. She was just getting ready to complete her Masters Degree in English from Long Island University in New York.
She was employed with WyzAnt Tutoring, Teaching, and Coaching children. In 2012-2014, she was a Special Education Teacher. Audrey stated that she enjoyed working with the "beautiful people". She also directed a play which she said she loved and found it to be "utterly fundamental".
She tried to live her life carefree and happy. She had the opportunity to go to Europe where she backpacked for almost a year experiencing adventure and making friends that she still remained in contact with and went for another visit the following year.
Audrey is gone from this place that we call life but will now experience a new life that will allow her to have even greater adventure, love, and happiness.
Preceding her in death was her mother, Kathy Casey Blackburn; maternal grandparents, Willis and Ruby Miller Casey, and her paternal grandfather, Eddie Blackburn.
Those left behind to celebrate her life and memory is her dad and stepmom, Rick and Lesia Blackburn; her special aunt and uncle, Sissy Karen and Dennis Mills; two brothers, Brett (Ashley) Cline and Loren Swarz; her grandmothers, Jean Boren and Carol Ball; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and two special cousins that she was very close to, especially in childhood, Chris and Keith Mills. Also celebrating her life and memory are the many friends that she accumulated along her life's journey that meant so very much to her.
Audrey Lynn's Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home at 2p.m. Tuesday, April 14, with John Doug Hayes officiating.
Visitation will start at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The family plans to create a memorial garden in her memory therefore, in lieu of flowers, request potted plants and anything fairies which she loved.
