Audrey Louise Dahlman

Audrey Louise Dahlman St. Louis Park - Surrounded by her loving family, Audrey Louise Nilsen Dahlman passed away on June 7, 2023, in St. Louis Park, MN, just a month before her 98th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband Marvin, with whom she shared 68 wonderful years of marriage, and by her brother Byron Nilsen.

Audrey and Marvin loved the outdoors, bridge, and golf and delighted in their family. Audrey presided as the family's loving matriarch. She is survived by her brother Lloyd Nilsen; her sister Ruby Hansen; her children Dennis (Valerie) Dahlman, Kathy (Jay) Cragwall, and Roger (Cindy) Dahlman; and by her nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Audrey was born into a strong Norwegian family on July 8, 1925. She spent her childhood years in depression-era Duluth, MN. She married Marvin on June 26, 1947, moving with him to Winnebago, MN, and then to Sault Ste Marie, MI, where Marvin began his career as a college professor. She and Marvin raised their three children in the Sault.

She was active in Faith Lutheran Church, the Sault Country Club, and several bridge clubs and volunteer groups. She actively supported her children's school activities and helped in many ways at her church and Lake Superior State University. She and Marvin enjoyed spending their summers with family and friends at their cabin on nearby McNearney Lake. As the children grew up, she began work outside the home at the Sault Savings Bank, from which she eventually retired as an Assistant Vice President.

For the first thirty years of their retirement, Marvin and Audrey spent their winters in Mesa, AZ, returning to the Sault each year for the summers. They moved from Michigan to St Louis Park, MN, in 2014 to be nearer to family, making their home at the Parkshore Senior Living Community. Audrey made many, many friends among the residents and staff at Parkshore. The family is very grateful to the team at Parkshore for their care and kindness.

Audrey was always easily recognizable by her warm smile, cheerful laugh, and the twinkle in her eye. Vibrant and enthusiastic, she was the ideal of what a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend should be.

A memorial celebration of Audrey's life will be held on her birthday, July 8, 2023, from 1-3 pm at Parkshore Senior Living Community located at 3663 Park Center Boulevard, St. Louis Park, MN 55416. The family asks that condolences be sent in the care of Dennis Dahlman, 117 S Meadow Lane, Golden Valley, MN 55416.
